Item Meta Shifts
Items that gained or lost serious value from 7.41c → 7.41d. Pickrate-leaders like BKB and Boots are bought every patch — these are the ones that actually changed the game.

Recipe cost decreased from 1150 to 1100g, reducing the total cost across all levels (e.g. level 1 drops from 3050g to 3000g, level 5 from 7650g to 7400g). This lower barrier to entry means the item becomes accessible earlier in the game, increasing its relevance in timing windows. The compounding discount across upgrades makes investing in higher Dagon levels more gold-efficient over a full game. Combined with Smoke of Deceit's new allied chat broadcast, coordinated ganks that leverage Dagon burst are easier to execute with team awareness.

Using Smoke of Deceit now broadcasts a chat message in allied chat, giving all teammates immediate awareness when a smoke gank is initiated. This removes the coordination overhead of manual pinging or voice communication, allowing teams to rotate and follow up more reliably. The increased transparency translates directly into higher gank success rates, which drives the winrate uptick. At only 50g per purchase, the value-per-gold ratio was already exceptional, and this QoL improvement pushes its effective impact even higher.

Damage bonus decreased from +15 to +12, a direct reduction of 3 raw attack damage on a 3100g item. This weakens its stat efficiency compared to competing 3000g items, as the damage loss compounds over many attacks throughout a game. The item's primary appeal is the magic resistance reduction debuff it applies, but competing slot choices become more attractive when the raw stat line is diminished. This nerf pushes Mage Slayer further into niche territory against spell-heavy lineups rather than serving as a general-purpose pickup.
